At Santiam Ballet Academy, we’ve been helping Stayton stay stylish on the dance floor since opening our doors. Our highly trained and certified instructors have a wealth of experience in teaching and performing various styles and disciplines. We have a passion for the art of dance and for helping others build strength and confidence.

BABY BALLET
PRE-BALLET
Ages 2-3
Ages 3-5
Basic movement is taught through the use of the dancer’s imagination. It encourages rhythm & body awareness, while focusing on balance, arm & leg coordination and counting skills.
BALLET I
Ages 5-7
BALLET II
Ages 7-9
BALLET III
Ages 10-15
BALLET IV
Ages 13+ (teacher approval)
These classes teach classical ballet technique, both barre and center floor. This technique will focus on body alignment, arm/head carriage, stretching and strengthening of the legs/feet and ballet terminology.
Jazz I
Ages 6-8
JAZZ II
Ages 9-12
Class format consists of a warm-up to enhance core strengthening, balance, and extensions through isolations, rhythmic exercises, and floor stretches. Students study jazz technique, and learn to build complex combinations and routines set to fun and trendy music.
Creative Movement
Ages 3-5
This is a fun imaginative class where your little one will learn story telling through movement while including stretching, strengthening muscles, working on coordination and learning basic dance technique. We explore magical places, move to music, count rhythms and learn patterns. This class provides a great foundation to learning how to use the body in creative ways while building skills to grow in their dance capabilities.
Hip-hop
Ages 7 - Adult
A fun and vibrant form of dance, Hip-hop combines a variety of freestyle movements that includes elements of popping, locking, breaking and jazz.
Contemporary
Ages 9+
An expressive style of dance that combines elements of several dance genres including classical ballet, jazz and modern.
(Weekly ballet is a prerequisite )
YOUTH SPORTS AGILITY
Ages 6-12
Focuses on physical activity and the fundamentals of athlete performance for individuals ages 6 and older. Classes are designed to incorporate speed, agility, functional movement and injury prevention (strength and flexibility). The young athlete will perform a variety of exercises to help improve overall fitness, athletic performance and tools to develop self-confidence.
Tumbling
Ages 4-6
Introductory to stretching and tumbling. Handstands, forward & backward rolls, handstands to bridge, cartwheel, etc.
Adult Fitness
BARRE FITNESS
Focusing on building long, lean dancer type muscles while increasing balance, strength, core endurance and flexibility, this class takes the fundamentals of ballet and incorporates yoga and pilates to create a unique fitness experience.
PIIT 28
This class combines the best core exercises from Pilates and incorporates some intense cardio. Get in, get sweaty, and get out in 30 minutes!
Fitness class cost
1 class/week: $35
Drop-in classes: $10
Monthly rates are to be paid in advance.

CHARLENE VOGEL
Academy Director and Instructor
Charlene earned a bachelor's degree in Education with a minor in Art and Dance from the University of Oregon and has over 25 years of training in the Vaganova and Cecchetti ballet techniques. She has starred in several leading rolls in numerous classical ballets including "The Nutcracker", "Swan Lake", "Giselle", "La Sylphide" and "Copellia".
She has extensive training in athletics and has competed in track & field at the collegiate level which gives her a unique skill set when it comes to teaching both dancers and athletes alike. She is passionate about providing a safe place for children to grow and helping them turn into strong, confident, disciplined, and beautiful young individuals.

VANESSA MYERS
Creative Movement/Ballet Instructor
Vanessa has 15 years of dance training in multiple styles of dance including ballet, jazz, lyrical, tap, dance team and hip hop; with ballet being her passion. She continues to dance outside of her teaching and also loves fitness.
She enjoys working with children and helping them grow in their unique abilities and developing their love of dance. She believes in providing quality education and instruction to help students grow.
